The “Chefs Move to Schools” program, run through the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will pair chefs with interested schools in their communities so together they can create healthy meals that meet the schools’ dietary guidelines and budgets, while teaching young people about nutrition and making balanced and healthy choices. Student chefs present their award-winning jalapeno cornbread. Their meal was served in local high schools. The student chefs brought the healthy, great-tasting school lunch they designed – which won first place at HSC’s Cooking up Change healthy cooking contest – to Congress on March 2, 2010.
